China News Service, Boao, Hainan, July 26 (Reporter Yin Haiming) The 2020 Hainan Water Sports Season hosted by the Hainan Provincial People's Government kicked off on the 25th in Boao, Qionghai, Hainan. The theme of this year's water sports season is "Water Sail, Sail Free Trade". The event will last from July to December, with 27 major projects covering 18 cities and counties in Hainan except Sansha.

According to the organizer, during the six-month water sports season this year, "monthly theme, weekly and weekly activities" will be organized to carry out water carnival, rainforest exploration, water splashing folklore, surfing in the South China Sea, vibrant coastal and mountainous areas. Xianghai’s six theme month activities will include a series of events, training, experience and other activities around the theme to promote the optimization and upgrading of traditional tourism consumption and cultural and sports consumption, and create new hot spots and new formats for national fitness and tourism consumption. The event will adopt free, discount and other diversified measures to attract all kinds of people to participate in sports tourism activities, so that residents on the island and tourists outside the island can share the joy of Hainan's water sports.
The Hainan Water Sports Season is a sports tourism brand event that the Hainan Provincial People's Government focuses on. It has been carried out for 4 years since 2017. In April 2020, the Hainan Provincial Government officially promulgated the "Development Plan for the National Sports Tourism Demonstration Zone in Hainan Province", which aims to integrate excellent resources such as the ecological environment, special economic zones and international tourist islands, and innovate to promote the Hainan National Sports Tourism Demonstration Zone for the whole country. According to the central deployment and the goals of the National Sports Tourism Demonstration Zone Development Plan in Hainan Province, Hainan will give full play to the natural ecological advantages of tropical coastal islands surrounded by the sea, rivers and lakes, expand the popularization of water sports in Hainan, and guide sports tourism consumption. Promote the in-depth integration of sports, tourism and education, build an international tourism consumption center, and comprehensively upgrade the Hainan "Water Sports Paradise" brand. Stimulate the consumption potential of sports tourism in Hainan International Tourism Island, inject new impetus into the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics and an international tourism consumption center in Hainan, innovate to promote the construction of Hainan National Sports Tourism Demonstration Zone, and gradually build Hainan into a water sports yearning for global tourists destination.
Fu Caixiang, Vice Governor of Hainan Province, announced the opening of the 2020 Hainan Water Sports Season.
