The "Mohammed bin Rashid Global Prosperity Initiative", one of the initiatives of the World Summit for Industry and Manufacturing, announced yesterday a list of 20 innovations nominated for the final rounds of the second round of the Mohammed bin Rashid International Challenge for Industrial Innovators, where the finalists will compete to win the prizes of the challenge, which is estimated at a total value of one million Dollars, with five competitors for each of the challenges of the second round of the Mohammed bin Rashid International Challenge for the Four Industrial Innovators.

The second session of the challenge includes: climate change, healthy and sustainable food for all, employing innovation to enable developing countries and all segments of society to participate in global trade, and employing techniques of the fourth industrial revolution to promote peace and justice.

The finalists will review their innovations before the jury experts in a series of virtual judging sessions that start on August 31, 2020, where members of the jury will evaluate the innovations and choose the winners in each of the four challenges in preparation for their coronation in a special ceremony to distribute the Mohammed bin Rashid International Prize for Industrial Innovators, which It will be held on September 6.

The finalists were chosen after studying and checking more than 3400 innovations, I applied to participate in the second session of the Mohammed bin Rashid International Challenge for Industrial Innovators, an increase of more than 200% compared to the number of innovations attracted by the first session of the initiative last year. The second session of the Global Challenge for Industrial Innovators received innovative solutions from 148 countries, where the percentage of participating innovations from the least developed countries reached about 18%.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, recently warned of the increase in the number of poor people as a result of the epidemic, indicating that 50 million people around the world are at risk of poverty, unless urgent action is taken. This statement came on the heels of a report recently published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs on the negative impact of the Corona Virus on the ability of countries to achieve sustainable development goals, and the possibility of delaying opportunities to achieve them.

For his part, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the World Summit for Industry and Manufacturing, Badr Salim Sultan Al-Ulama said: “Since its founding in 2017, the Mohammed bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity has adopted the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Aiming at advancing humanity through supporting innovation. ”
