The department noted that the development of production and consumption of hydrogen, as well as Russia's entry into export markets is a promising task, for which the Russian fuel and energy complex has the necessary potential.

It is reported that the draft action plan "Development of hydrogen energy in the Russian Federation" for 2020-2024 "provides for the improvement of the legal framework and technical regulation in the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen and methane-hydrogen mixtures, support for the implementation of priority pilot projects in the field of hydrogen production, including the creation of pilot plants, the study of issues of international cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy ".

It is specified that "the development and specification of the proposed measures will be made after the approval of the action plan."

“The work will be organized with the active participation of interested federal executive bodies: the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Energy of Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of Russia and interested organizations,” the message says.

Earlier, the Deputy Head of the European Commission Frans Timmermans said that the European Union will not be able to abandon the use of natural gas and nuclear energy in the near future.

Until the transition to a carbon-free economy is completed, he said, access to natural gas and nuclear power will be required to, in particular, guarantee the production of the required amount of hydrogen fuel.
