Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 - DR

While the other 718 Cayman (coupe) and Boxster (roadster) are fitted with a pleasant flat 4-cylinder, those bearing the GTS logo receive an atmospheric flat 6 from the 911. You will tell us that it was already the case of the GT4 version of 420 horses but there, it is brutal, "sharp", all that is not the GTS.

Its peculiarity is the pleasure provided by an engine that resumes from the lowest revs to fly up to 7,800 rpm, flexibility which is the guarantee of comfortable daily use. The only downside: the beautiful 20 '' light alloy wheels generate some shocks when the cobblestones are on the horizon. Nothing dramatic, however, since the seats (with perfect support) erase a good part of these lifts.

Inside these GTS, the atmosphere is "Black" according to the Porsche expression, with a mixture of leather, Alcantara, stitching and GTS logos everywhere. And as always, the finish and the quality of the materials are obviously at the top of current automobile production.

Electronic heel-toe

It was during a test on the Portuguese Estoril circuit, just before confinement, that the Cayman GTS definitely won us over. There, no more question of half-measures! The rotary button on the steering wheel is pointed to "Sport +", as are the suspensions of the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) chassis. With its mid-rear engine which obviously contributes to the ideal balance, and to the direction as precise as it is communicative, the 718 GTS still manages to amaze us. As for the gearbox - manual please! - she treats. The reports shift effortlessly, and the little lever that falls perfectly in hand. But heel-toe enthusiasts (advice to connoisseurs) may be frustrated, since electronic management takes the place of them and takes care of everything.

Note again the presence of a self-locking rear differential (mechanical) and brakes worthy of Porsche. Clearly, they brilliantly withstand circuit tests, even in intensive use, which is far from being the case for some competitors! And we're not even talking about the optional ceramic brakes.

Now the bad news: this GTS still costs a trifle of 84,620 €. If we want to see the bright side of things, we will say to ourselves that it is much cheaper than a "basic" 911 of 385hp, which starts at nearly 110,000 €!
