The Board of Directors also includes: Younis Haji Al-Khoury, Khalid Mohammed Salem Balami, Khalid Ahmed Hamid Al-Tayer and Dr. Ali Muhammad Bakhit Al-Rumaithi.

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates was established by Federal Law No. 10 of 1980 as a public institution.

The bank works to enhance the monetary and financial stability and efficiency of the financial system, and protect consumers through effective supervision and control that contribute to supporting the sustainable economic system.

Among its most important goals are to maintain the stability of the national currency within the framework of the monetary system and contribute to the promotion and protection of financial stability in the state, and to ensure rational management of its foreign reserves. The bank also has responsibilities to develop and implement fiscal policy in line with the national agenda and exercise the privilege of issuing the national currency, and to regulate licensed financial activities And setting the provisions and foundations related to it, and specifying the precautionary practices necessary for the exercise of its functions, setting the appropriate systems and standards to protect clients of licensed financial institutions, monitoring the credit situation in the country and contributing to achieving a balanced growth of the national economy, as well as managing foreign reserves, to maintain «at all times» reserves Sufficient assets in foreign currency to cover the monetary base, and regulate and develop the financial infrastructure in the country, including electronic payment systems, digital currency, and stored value facilities.
