The recovery after the bursting of the real estate bubble in Spain marked the start of an escalation in rental prices that took cruising speed in 2015 and peaked in 2018, just before the slowdown in 2019. The escalation particularly affected the islands, the Levantine coast, Madrid and Barcelona , where the shortage of supply in proportion to the growing demand triggered rents and the price per square meter of homes.The increases were especially striking in the Balearic Islands and Madrid.
