Linear Central Shinkansen JR Tokai June 29, 19:57

After the top talks last week over the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which Shizuoka Prefecture has not approved for construction, Governor Kawakatsu told the press that the JR side would not be allowed to prepare for the rush to begin construction. Regarding this, the JR side said that he did not hear the governor's statement directly, and sent a document requesting explanation of the reason.

At the top meeting held on the 26th of last week, President Kaneko of JR Tokai sought to understand that in order to open the Linear Chuo Shinkansen in 2027, preparatory work for full-scale construction must start within this month. On the other hand, Governor Kawakatsu only explained that "it is necessary to conclude an environmental conservation agreement."

On the other hand, Governor Kawakatsu revealed to the press that the preparatory work was an integral part of the main work and would not be accepted at a press conference held after the meeting.

JR Tokai sent a document to the prefecture asking about the intention of the statement on the 29th, saying that he did not hear the governor's statement directly.

In the document, he said, "I thought that it would be possible to proceed with the preparatory work by preparing for the conclusion of the agreement," and added that Governor Kawakatsu said after the meeting, "It is difficult to start. I would like you to make a direct written statement regarding this and the reason for that."

Shizuoka Prefecture will respond after confirming the intentions of the relevant local governments, but in the middle of this month Governor Kawakatsu and the local mayors agreed that they could not agree to start work, The prefecture's policy is to reply that work is not allowed.
