The French cosmetic giant L'Oréal has decided to remove some terms, such as "bleach", from the description of its products, in a global context of anti-racist protests .

"The group L'Oreal has decided to withdraw the terms white / bleach (white / whitening), clear (fair / fairness, light / Lightening) of all its products to homogenize the skin , " the company said in a statement published in English on Saturday, without giving further details on whether the measure will be effective immediately or not.

This decision comes after Unileve's Indian subsidiary announced on Thursday that it was going to change the name of its skin whitening cream, "Fair & Lovely" (Clara & Bonita), to a campaign it considers racist.

The Anglo-Dutch multinational food and cosmetics company promised not to use the term "fair" anymore, as it says it is "committed to celebrating all skin tones".

The scale of anti-racist protests around the world, sparked after the death of George Floyd , an African-American choked by a white police officer in Minneapolis, is increasing pressure on businesses.

In this sense, several companies in the United States announced their plans to modify their visual identity.
