The Tax Agency is going to begin to carry out part of its inspection activity by videoconference , and wants to carry out the first actions of this type before September, that is, immediately.

It is a possibility that the Treasury already handled, but which has been accelerated by the mobility restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. And for this reason, in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of June 17, which is why the extraordinary credit of 16,000 million was approved so that communities can face Covid-19 , the following provision was discreetly introduced end .

"The actions of the Administration and the taxpayers in the procedures for the application of taxes may be carried out through digital systems that, through videoconference or another similar system, allow bidirectional and simultaneous communication of image and sound, visual interaction , auditory and verbal between the taxpayers and the acting body ".

The possibility of carrying out this action, which has been advanced by Cinco Días , has the vocation of permanence , of lasting beyond the coronavirus crisis, according to the Tax Agency itself. And the intention of the Treasury is to carry out the first performances already before the summer vacation period although it will be from September when it gains strength.

It will not be applied in all tax inspections, not even in the entire process, but it will be one more tool to carry out certain procedures that would be done, for example, in the Agency's office or in the inspected company itself. Furthermore, the process will be carried out at the Agency's proposal but must also be accepted by the taxpayer .

Virtual counter

Along with this measure, sources from the Tax Agency also highlight that in October the system of comprehensive Digital Assistance Administrations (ADI) will begin to be applied. It is a virtual counter through which taxpayers can remotely carry out VAT or census procedures. "Assistance in procedures and not just inspections", added from the body led by Jesús Gascón, who with these actions wants to facilitate taxpayer compliance with their tax obligations.
