Starting in 2023, anyone who invests more than 20 million won in domestic stocks must pay taxes. Instead, the securities trading tax paid when selling stocks goes down little by little.

First, reporter Chan-Keun Park will explain the changes in detail.

<Reporter> At this time, the

capital gains tax, which was paid only by large shareholders with listed stocks of more than 1 billion won per item, must be paid by 2023 as an ant, so a small shareholder.

The basic deduction was set at 20 million won, which means that if you make a profit of more than 20 million won by investing in stocks, you have to pay tax.

The tax rate is 20% below the 300 million won margin and 25% is applied to the excess.

Instead, the stock exchange tax, which is now 0.25%, goes down to 0.15% by 2023.

For example, if you bought 2000 shares of 50,000 won for 100 million won and earned 40%.

Since it's a small shareholder now, even if you made a profit, you only paid 0.25% of the transaction tax and 350,000 won when you sold the stock without paying tax.

By 2023, the capital gains tax of 40 million won on the income of 40 million won, the securities transaction tax of the reduced tax rate of 220,000 won, and a total of 4.21 million won in tax.

So, in the case of a long-term investment, it is a waste to pay all taxes on accumulated profits, but it is necessary to sell stocks before 2023.

We decided to prevent such side effects by considering the acquisition price as a market price at the end of 2022.

Prior to this, from 2022, tax will be levied on the current non-taxable bond transfer gains and equity gains in the fund.

For all financial investment products owned by individuals, annual income and losses are added together to tax only net profit.

If you lose, you can be deducted over the three years.

According to this reorganization, the government estimated that of the total 6 million stock investors, about 300,000, the top 5%, would pay the capital gains tax on listed stocks.
