TEPCO General Shareholders Meeting Proposal for stockholder proposal to stop construction of Higashidori nuclear power plant Rejected June 25, 14:36

At the TEPCO's general meeting of shareholders, a proposal was made by the shareholders to stop the construction of the Higashidori Nuclear Power Plant in Aomori Prefecture, but the majority rejected it.

Over 300 shareholders participated in the general meeting of shareholders held in Tokyo.

At the general meeting, a proposal was made by the shareholders for the Higashidori Nuclear Power Plant in Aomori Prefecture, which has been suspended due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, to stop construction because it would be a heavy burden on the local community.

The company side objected to the proposal, saying that it is an important development both from the perspective of electricity supply and in response to a decarbonized society.

As a result of the vote, the bill was rejected by the majority. Also, in the bill for the election of directors, 13 personnel cases were voted for in favor of Mr. Takashi Kawamura, who served as chairman for 3 years, and the retirement of Mr. Kawamura's chairman and directors was officially decided.

The company intends to leave the chairman position vacant for the time being.

On the other hand, at the general meeting of shareholders on 25th, the number of attendees decreased to less than one-third of last year, as shareholders were refraining from visiting to prevent infection with the new coronavirus and calling for approval or disapproval of the proposal by mail or the Internet. ..
