Lawson Original point reward from next month 2% at self cashier June 24, 6:37

The cashless payment point reward system will end at the end of this month, but a major convenience store, Lawson, has decided to make its own point reward policy starting next month at the expense of the company. The aim is to give back 2% to those who pay at the self-checkout and stop customers from leaving.

Under the national point reward system, if you do cashless shopping at small and medium-sized stores, the state will bear the cost, and up to 5% of the purchase amount will be returned.

It will start along with the consumption tax hike in October last year and will end at the end of this month.

Under these circumstances, Lawson decided to pay back 2% of points at the expense of the company if the self-checkout was used for the next two months.

It means that two points are common points such as Lawson's common point "Ponta" and NTT Docomo's "d point".

According to the company, of the approximately 14,500 stores nationwide, only 7,500 have switched to self-checkout.

Since the self-checkout system reduces the chances of contact, it will also prevent infection with the new coronavirus, so the company intends to quickly switch to it.

In the convenience store industry, Seven-Eleven Japan plans to work together with “PayPay” for smartphone payments to promote unique initiatives to stop customers from leaving, such as returning points by drawing next month.
