According to the Thai Federation of Industry announcement, the number of cars produced in Thailand last month was 56,035 units, a significant decrease of 69.1% compared to the same month last year.

Due to sluggish demand for new vehicles both in Japan and overseas due to the spread of the new coronavirus worldwide, the severity of the decline was smaller than the drop in April, which fell by more than 83%, but the situation remains severe.

Domestic sales also fell by 54.1% to 40,418 units from the same month last year, and exports fell by 68.6% to 29,894 units.

Thailand is the largest automobile-producing country in Southeast Asia, where Japanese manufacturers have production bases, and is also an export base to countries all over the world, but the serious effects of the spread of infection continue.

At a press conference, Vice Chairman of the Thai Federation of Industry, Suraporn said, "In the trading partners, the purchasing power of cars is decreasing due to the limitation of economic activity."
