SNCF Réseau wishes to hire nearly 2,000 people in 2020. The French railways managing company has "four priority targets throughout the national territory: rail traffic controllers, electricians, telecom technicians and overhead electric cable assemblers" , said on Wednesday its director of human resources (HRD), Georges Ichkanian. On these positions, the company is looking for a total of "around a thousand candidates".

For "these four major businesses, on which there are recurring needs", which have become "particularly acute with the health crisis", SNCF Réseau has "significant needs in five regions: Hauts-de-France, Grand-Est, Auvergne- Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Ile-de-France ”, said the HRD. "A third of our recruitments are in Ile-de-France, where we have significant needs in all areas," he said.

A slowdown caused by the health crisis

If "the pace" of recruitments was "normal until mid-March", the health crisis and confinement caused "a very clear slowdown", despite "fairly effective remote recruitment procedures", he said. it belongs. Currently, "it is starting again strongly".

In 2019, marked by "a significant number of retirements", SNCF Réseau had already recruited nearly 2,000 people and increased its workforce by around 200 employees compared to the previous year, said the HR manager. This year, "there will be slightly fewer retirements" but "we will remain in an overall positive balance in terms of employment," he estimated. "We are maintaining a fairly strong employment course" because "we need to invest in human skills", he noted.
