Guest of Europe 1, the president of the National Group of Independents, Didier Chenet, reacted to the total reopening in the dining room as on the terrace of restaurants and cafes in Ile-de-France. For him, this is a start but he also wants to remove the rule of one meter distance between each table.

INTERVIEW

The owners of restaurants and cafes have been asking for it for several weeks, it is now done: with the transition to the green zone, Emmanuel Macron announced Sunday the possibility for all restaurants and cafes of Ile-de-France to reopen in room. But the question of the health protocol to be respected is still vague and Didier Chenet, president of GNI, the National Group of Independents (which brings together restaurateurs, hoteliers or even caterers), hopes to see the end of the rule of the meter of distance between each table.

Two measures to accelerate recovery

"We want to say our satisfaction and relief, finally the activity will be able to resume!" Rejoiced Didier Chenet on Europe 1, while this reopening was to take place only in a week. But according to him to accelerate the recovery, there are "two measures to take". First, "allow standing consumption inside our bistros," he says. Then delete "the 1 meter distance rule" between each table.

"This will be part of a negotiation [...] This rule forces us to limit our carrying capacity and it is not economically viable for our companies", deplored the president of GNI. According to him, if we want "an accelerated and sustainable recovery, these two measures are essential, always with in mind respect for the health of our customers and employees".
