The official E-observation application allows you to report a car accident directly on your smartphone. - FFA / F. Christophorides

In the event of a collision with another vehicle, it is imperative to complete the famous amicable report in order to exercise your car insurance. This document facilitates the declaration from which the calculation of your compensation will be made. The precious form detailing the circumstances of the accident must then be completed and signed by both parties before being sent to their respective insurers within five working days. But you still have to have one on hand!
Did you just get in there and discover that you no longer have a paper report in the car? Don't panic, your smartphone can save you money! Since 2014, insurers have made the E-finding auto application available to you. Free and downloadable from the App Store and Google Play, this tool allows you to report online accidents that only resulted in property damage.

Speed and efficiency at the rendezvous

The presentation of the application is very close to that of paper. The boxes corresponding to vehicles A and B scroll with a finger movement and are easy to complete. The sketch, which will also be made with the finger, will require a little more dexterity, but its realization is facilitated by the possibility of inserting small predefined logos for lights, stops, priorities, etc. It would become almost fun, if there had not been a collision before! Once all the boxes filled, just sign, again, with your finger. The e-statement, which has exactly the same legal value as its paper equivalent, is then sent to insurers with a single click.
In addition to its speed of execution, this dematerialized version of the traditional paper form also allows you to complete your declaration by the direct addition of photos of the accident and in particular of the damage, for a very precise report.

A shunned device

Despite its simplicity of use, the e-report has still not supplanted the paper form. According to the few figures available, the mobile application had been downloaded more than 600,000 times at the end of 2017, while only 38,000 e-reports had been reported through this year.
