• COVID-19.Sánchez: "255,000 citizens will receive the minimum income on June 26. More than half of the beneficiaries are minors"

About 255,000 citizens will receive the Minimum Life Income on June 26, that is, 75,000 homes, of which half will be children, as announced this Sunday at a press conference by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

"On June 26, 255,000 citizens will receive the Minimum Vital Income in their bank accounts, this represents that 75,000 households since June will benefit from this measure automatically, and more than half of the legal beneficiaries will be minors "Sánchez said after the thirteenth meeting with the presidents of the Autonomous Communities to discuss the coronavirus crisis and the measures to address it.

The Government estimates that this income will reach some 850,000 households in which approximately 2.3 million people live, of which 30% are minors . For this reason, Sánchez has justified the approval of this measure in that it will serve for the "fight against child poverty."

Sánchez also reported that in just one week, the website dedicated to the Minimum Vital Income, which was approved last Friday, May 29 in the Council of Ministers, received 21 million visits, in which 3.5 millions of simulations of benefits, "figures that if you visualize something, is the enormous impact on Spanish society, a positive impact.

In total, it is estimated that 850,000 families are going to demand the minimum vital income (IMV), the government's star measure to raise a social shield that helps mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus. Aid management will reside in the Social Security Institute (INSS) , except in the Basque Country and Navarra. And the cost will be assumed by the State minus the bureaucratic part, which will correspond to the municipalities.

The municipalities are already receiving a large number of requests for local help , so that they do not have the margin to face a new - and laborious - bureaucratic process with the same personnel. The 850,000 families that aid is expected to reach will total 2.3 million people, one to one of which will have to be checked and monitored.

The main fear of the municipalities is that they will receive tens of thousands of coup requests, that they will not be able to manage them and that they will end up being blamed for the delays (although the aid will be charged retroactively, until September 15). The payments promised by the Government in the so-called social shield are registering disparate lots. In the case of temporary employment regulation files processed by the Ministry of Labor, there have been delays in paying up to 900,000 people in recent months. Far from denying these delays, Work has denied them, despite the fact that their employees do not want to open the offices as a precautionary measure.
