The Danube Group reported that its founder and Chairman of the Board, Radwan Sajan, filed a complaint with the Dubai Police Cyber ​​Crime Unit against impersonating him through a false account on Facebook to collect donations in his name.

The group, in a statement obtained by "Emirates Today", obtained a copy of it, that one of the cyber criminals created a fake copy of the Sagan account on Facebook, last week, and started using his personal name to request donations.

According to the statement, Sajan took the necessary legal measures when one of his friends notified him about the matter after he was suspected of the matter.

In a post he posted on Facebook, Sajan said, attached to a photo showing the fake account, and another that includes one of the messages that many of his friends received: “Please note that someone created a false account in my name, and he started sending random messages to many of my friends, and if you receive Any friend request or any of these random messages requesting donations and grants, I hope you will not accept them and respond to them ».

He added: “The fraudster was sending messages to a specific group of friends and acquaintances of the person who is targeting him, through a forged copy of my Facebook account, using a link of an electronic platform that works from India to collect donations that he claims will go to support a child who suffers from a blood disorder. ».

Sajan pointed out that he was quick to inform the people on Facebook about the matter, in order to close the account that was deleted quickly after that, and then lodged a complaint with the Dubai Crime Unit in Dubai Police.

He said: «I am not sure yet whether the fraudster succeeded in collecting money from my friends and acquaintances on (Facebook), but this behavior is very unfortunate, and it prompts us all to be more careful.
