The Iranian nuclear deal was signed in 2015 between Iran and the major powers. The Islamic Republic renounces its military nuclear program. In return, international sanctions are gradually lifted.

But the following year, it is the great upheaval: Donald Trump succeeds Barack Obama. The new White House tenant promises to end the deal . From 2018, he followed through on his threats. It targets several sectors, but above all the most sensitive: oil and finance.

Frightened by fines that can amount to billions of dollars, multinationals recently installed in the Islamic Republic are packing their bags.

Blow for blow

The Iranian economy is strangled. She then enters a slow agony, which always lasts. Europeans, Russians, Chinese, are trying to intervene. But in the face of the "maximum pressure" imposed by Donald Trump, the Iranians in turn end up starting a staged disengagement from the agreement.

A hellish circle where Washington and Tehran go head to head. The US administration is now announcing an end to exemptions from the Iranian civilian nuclear sector. In other words, countries like Russia, active in this field in Iran, are now at risk of American sanctions.
