On May 21, Li Yanhong, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of Baidu, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Service that L5 level autonomous driving is estimated to take another decade or so to be realized. He said that this is a gradual process. At present, some relatively closed parks have begun to try. In the future, in simpler scenes such as highways without traffic lights and pedestrians, autonomous driving will arrive earlier. In the "last mile", when the vehicle travels slowly enough, the safety factor will increase accordingly. He said that at present, it will take a long time for autonomous driving to replace existing cars.
