The communiqué shows that the total business volume and business revenue of the entire industry in 2019 will be 1.6 trillion yuan and 964.25 billion yuan respectively, up 31.5% and 22% year-on-year, and the express delivery business volume will exceed 60 billion pieces.

Business development

  The total business volume of the postal industry for the year was 1622.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.5%. The business revenue of the postal industry (excluding direct savings income of the Postal Savings Bank) for the whole year was 964.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%.

  In 2019, the postal delivery service business volume was 24.72 billion pieces, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year; the postal delivery service business revenue was 42.87 billion yuan, an increase of 16.4% year-on-year.

  The annual mail business volume was 2.17 billion, down 18.9% year-on-year; the package business volume was 21.55 million, down 10.5% year-on-year; the newspaper business was 16.81 billion copies, down 2.7% year-on-year; the magazine business was 730 million copies. , A year-on-year decrease of 5.8%; exchange business completed 16.4 million transactions, a year-on-year decrease of 34.9%.

  The express delivery business grew rapidly. In the whole year, the business volume of express delivery service companies was 63.52 billion, an increase of 25.3% year-on-year; the revenue of express delivery business was 749.78 billion yuan, an increase of 24.2% year-on-year.

  The share of express delivery business in the industry continues to increase. The revenue of express delivery business accounted for 77.8% of the total industry revenue, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from the previous year.

  Express delivery in the same city declined slightly. In the same year, the city's express delivery business volume was 11.04 billion pieces, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%; business revenue was 75.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 16.9%.

  The off-site express delivery business is growing rapidly. In the whole year, the volume of off-site express delivery business was 51.05 billion pieces, an increase of 33.7% year-on-year; business revenue was 394.12 billion yuan, an increase of 27.1% year-on-year.

  International / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express business continued to grow. The international / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery business volume totaled 1.44 billion pieces, an increase of 29.9% year-on-year; realized business income was 74.73 billion yuan, an increase of 27.6% year-on-year.

  The proportion of off-site business increased. The same-city, off-site, international / Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery business accounted for 17.4%, 80.4% and 2.2% of the total respectively, and business revenue accounted for 10%, 52.6% and 10% of the total.

  The express delivery business in the eastern, central and western regions has maintained a sustained and stable growth momentum. The business growth in the central region continued to accelerate and the market share continued to rise. In the whole year, the volume of express delivery business in the eastern region was 50.62 billion pieces, an increase of 25% year-on-year; business revenue was 601.59 billion yuan, an increase of 24.5% year-on-year. In the central region, the volume of express delivery business was 8.17 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%; business revenue was 84.42 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%. The western region completed 4.74 billion pieces of express delivery business, an increase of 19.4% year-on-year; realized business revenue of 63.78 billion yuan, an increase of 20.4% year-on-year. The proportion of express delivery business in the eastern, central and western regions was 79.7%, 12.9% and 7.4%, and the proportion of express delivery business revenue was 80.2%, 11.3% and 8.5%, respectively.

  The total of the top five provinces in terms of volume of express delivery business has risen compared with the previous year. The top five provinces in terms of express delivery business are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong. Their total express delivery business accounted for 65.9% of the total express delivery business, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the previous five.   The top 15 cities in terms of express delivery business volume are Guangzhou, Jinhua (Yiwu), Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing, Suzhou, Dongguan, Jieyang, Chengdu, Quanzhou, Wuhan, Wenzhou, Ningbo and Nanjing in total. It accounts for 56.5% of the total express delivery business volume.

  The top fifteen cities in terms of express delivery business revenue are Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Hangzhou, Jinhua (Yiwu), Suzhou, Dongguan, Chengdu, Wuhan, Jieyang, Nanjing, Ningbo, Tianjin, Quanzhou. It accounts for 60.7% of the total express business revenue.
