News that a company is currently developing a corona19 vaccine or treatment has been frequently released in other countries as well as in Korea.

If so, where is the progress and when will it be possible?

There are 8 clinical trials of corona19 vaccine in progress reported to the World Health Organization.

Four in China, two in the United States, and one in Germany and the United Kingdom.

The most notable is the vaccine at the Jenner Institute at Oxford University in the UK, which is undergoing clinical trials in the world's largest 800.

The UK government aims to start vaccinating the public in September again after conducting clinical trials for 5,000 people after confirming safety for three months.

The problem is that it is difficult to see the effect even in this short period.

[Anthony Pouch / Director, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, USA: At risk, we are developing a vaccine, but we are not sure if the vaccine will work or how long it will last.]

Korea is scheduled to conduct a clinical trial on one type of vaccine starting next month. It is advantageous to start even for small initial clinical trials for several types of vaccines.

[Song, Man-Gi / Deputy Director, International Vaccine Research Institute: (For multiple vaccines) Once at least as fast as clinical, it is necessary to prove that the immune response is well induced in humans so that they can be approved and prepared much faster.]

Treatments are being developed in a way that utilizes drugs that have been used for other purposes than new drugs.

The only officially recognized Ebola remedy is Remedyvir, but research around the world is in full swing, making it more likely to develop faster than a vaccine.

However, you must be vigilant in making judgments.

Even if the drug that the domestic research team announced was 600 times more effective than Ebola treatment, it did not show any effect in other cell studies, and the results of cell experiments may be different in animal or clinical trials.

Nevertheless, it is beneficial to start clinical trials as quickly as possible for a variety of therapeutic candidates.
