It was his first visit abroad in almost two months due to the Covid-19 crisis. Mike Pompeo is in Israel this Wednesday. The American secretary of state met with the head of government Benyamin Netanyahu and that which should become alternating prime minister tomorrow, Benny Gantz. A visit which underlines the links which exist between the two countries, but which nevertheless let point possible divergences.

With our correspondent in Jerusalem,

On each visit, American and Israeli leaders do not fail to show signs of friendship. The two countries put forward their understanding and their converging views on Iran or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated it this Wednesday: “  We are now on the verge of forming a government of national unity. I think this is an opportunity to promote peace and security based on the common understanding I reached with President Trump during my last visit to Washington in January.  "

Speaking in turn, Mike Pompeo did not fail to highlight the strength of the ties between the two countries, while launching a spade to China: "  You are a great partner, you share information. Unlike other countries that seek to obscure and hide this information. And we will talk about this country too.  "

At the desk, Benyamin Netanyahu took the compliment and laughed at the remark by Mike Pompeo. But relations with China are a subject of dissension between the two countries. The United States urges Israel to cut contracts with Chinese companies. As for the implementation of the Trump plan, Mike Pompeo simply stressed that there is still work.
