If thanks to the lifting of containment, department stores can reopen since Monday morning, they must comply with strict hygiene rules. In Paris, an Fnac store has for example planned to sell masks to customers, protect its cashiers with hygienic devices or widen the aisles.

REPORTAGE

This is one of the sectors for which the challenge of deconfinement is one of the most colossal: the department stores can reopen their doors since Monday morning, apart from the shopping centers of more than 40,000m². But since the Covid-19 is still in circulation on the territory, shopping can no longer be done as before. Europe 1 has sneaked into the shelves of a Fnac store, located in the north of Paris, to find out more.

As of the entry, which will be done by a single access, it will be necessary to yield to a new ritual. "Hydroalcoholic gel for everyone!" : a seller announces the color. "It is very important, it allows us to be serene in our store," he explains. Despite this anxiety-provoking context, this seller says he is "happy" to return to work. He hopes to "find customers with a smile": "Even if behind the mask, you can't see it, your eyes speak," he continues.

Mandatory masks for everyone

The mask will also be mandatory for both employees and customers. "To facilitate the wearing of the mask for those who do not have one, Fnac has decided to offer disposable masks for sale at cost. We should sell them in boxes of 50 at a price of 39.50 euros", specifies Julien Munch, regional director of Fnac Paris. The reopening of the store also involves a new layout. Furniture has been removed to create wider aisles and 150 hygiaphones will be installed at all counters.

Julien Munch assures that the sanitary rules will be strictly observed, including when a customer puts down an article. "We have reinforced the cleaning teams," he explains. If a customer touches a book, for example, "disinfection and cleaning of the affected book" will be provided. Finally, the cash desks will favor payment by card and to avoid too many people crossing, the entrance and exit of the store will be through opposite accesses. Entrances may also be limited in the event of large crowds.
