The Ministry of Health has validated the health protocols for the reopening of the tourism sector that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism commissioned the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) two weeks ago. These plans include the hygiene and safety measures that are going to be applied in hotels, restaurants, camping sites, rural accommodation ... They are measures of application throughout the national scope, in order to unify criteria.

There are specific plans for each of the aforementioned subsectors. The documents contain technical specifications that will be applied to reduce the risk of contagion of coronavirus in tourist establishments.

For example, in which it refers to restaurants, a capacity criterion is not established for the reopening of the premises, but rather talks about guaranteeing a safety distance between table and table and, based on this, setting the maximum of customers who can enter an establishment. the government de-escalation plan, however, does establish a maximum capacity of 50%.

In other words, the Ministry of Health itself has approved a protocol where distance is required as a criterion for deciding how many people enter a premises, while the Government's de-escalation plan refers to capacity.

Hotel plan

"What prevails is the royal decree of the Government", point out from the sector, which has always demanded that this requirement be eliminated when considering that it does not obey logic, since a restaurant, for example, can have a lot of space and few tables, which will guarantee the safety distance more than another that opens with 50% capacity but has many tables in a small space.

The protocol establishes other measures to avoid contact in a room, such as that the bins are pedal operated, and not manual, that the paper menu is avoided, that several customers touch, and that tablecloths are used and thrown away. , among other measures.

Regarding hotels, the way of providing some services has been changed, such as the buffet breakfast, which will now be served on trays or served by the establishment's staff. The rooms will be as sober as possible, to avoid decorative elements that could cause contagion.

All the plans for the different tourist establishments contemplate social distancing measures (with marking in the reception areas, etc.), the recommendation of the use of masks and the provision of disinfectant gel or gloves, among others.
