Temporarily closed "AEON MALL" specialty store From 13th to restart operations in 19 prefectures May 7 23:29

A major retailer, Aeon, has announced that it will resume operations in 19 prefectures, including Mie and Miyagi prefectures, from the 13th of this month on specialty stores of the shopping mall "AEON MALL", which is temporarily closed throughout Japan.

AEON is temporarily closed nationwide at specialty stores that enter the AEON MALL shopping mall due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

Aeon decided to resume operations at 42 shopping malls in 19 prefectures such as Mie, Miyagi and Niigata prefectures from 13th of this month based on the cancellation of the request for leave from local governments.

Aeon says that at the facility where the specialty store will resume operations, it will call for distances between people and take measures to prevent infection, such as thorough disinfection and ventilation.

On the other hand, we are planning to continue closing the specialty stores at more than 100 shopping malls nationwide, including facilities in the “Special caution prefectures”.

AEON will continue to consider reopening its shopping mall business in light of the spread of infection and the response of local governments.
