• Direct: last minute of the coronavirus

Thinking of those travelers who are afraid of catching covid-19 during a flight, the American airline Frontier is now offering travelers to ensure that the seat next to it will be empty paying an additional $ 39.

Dubbed "More space", this option joins a series of initiatives such as the mandatory use of a mask for passengers and crew, aimed at reassuring users when the pandemic has hit the air transport industry hard.

Specifically, Frontier encourages future travelers to reserve a seat near them for $ 39 when purchasing their airline ticket on the FlyFrontier.com site.

The option is available for flights scheduled from May 8 to August 31, says the airline, which will offer 18 "more space" seats per plane.

Based in Denver, the airline, which serves the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, will wait awhile before deciding whether to extend this option beyond August.

"We are convinced that the best action to preserve everyone's health is to demand to cover their faces, but for those who want the seat near them to remain empty for more space or simply for comfort reasons, we now offer 'More space '", underlines its executive director, Barry Biffle, quoted in a statement.
