A majority of two-thirds of the members of the International Exhibitions Bureau voted in favor of postponing the Expo 2020 Dubai for one year, as the international event will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
This came in the member states' remote voting on the recommendation of the Executive Committee of the International Bureau of Exhibitions to postpone, as proposed by the government of the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of last April and recommended by the Executive Committee of the International Bureau of Exhibitions on April 21.
While voting will remain open until May 29, more than two-thirds majority was achieved within a week of voting beginning on April 24.

Expo 2020 Dubai will retain its name and remain committed to hosting an exceptional international event that celebrates humanity, its creations, cultures and innovations, including the significant technical advances made in the areas of medicine and science.
"Expo 2020 Dubai" will be the first international "Expo" to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and the largest event ever held in the Arab world, with the participation of 192 countries and a number of companies and organizations.
