Foreign travelers staying in Japan decreased by 85.9% year-on-year, the largest decrease ever recorded at 15:00 on April 30.

According to the Japan Tourism Agency, the total number of foreign tourists staying at domestic hotels and inns last month was 1.18 million, a decrease of 85.9% compared to the same month last year. Due to the spread of new coronavirus infection, it is the largest decrease ever.

The total number of guests staying in Japan, including Japanese people, totaled 23.61 million, a decrease of 49.6% compared to the same month last year, and the impact of the spread of infection on domestic travel and the lodging industry is becoming more serious.
