Dubai Airports Corporation said that the unified efforts made by the aviation sector in Dubai, embassies and government authorities in the UAE have helped 37,469 people return safely to their homes by operating 312 private return flights by 54 airlines.

The Foundation said in a statement that the implementation of the temporary suspension of flights at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport had started on March 24 as part of a comprehensive set of precautionary measures taken by the UAE government at the level of the country's airports as a whole to combat the spread of Covid-19.

 His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, President of Dubai Airports, Supreme President and Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines and the Group, said: “Dubai’s aviation sector has always been known for its collaborative approach and teamwork, and this has become increasingly evident, especially with the start of the spread of Covid-19.” .

His Highness added, "We remain confident that the aviation sector in Dubai will emerge from this crisis as a stronger and more resilient society and has become ready to reconnect the world and maintain its leading position globally."

 The aviation sector stakeholders have multiplied the frequency and intensity of sterilization and careful cleaning programs, as well as implementing social divergence measures in the airport environment in full accordance with the directives issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the Dubai Health Authority.

In turn, CEO of Dubai Airports Corporation, Paul Griffiths said: "We will continue to support the ongoing process of return flights and cargo flights, and we will go ahead with planning and preparations to resume regular services as soon as they are considered safe."
