In the famous Dubai Mall, the most important shopping center in the emirate, the atmosphere is ghostly. Only a handful of customers wander in deserted alleys.
After more than a month of closure linked to the coronavirus epidemic, the tourist attraction opened its doors again yesterday. But its attendance remains limited to 30% of its capacity.
Nicole, a Russian national of the emirate, says however delighted with this decision. “ I am really happy with this decision because now we can leave our home. We can socialize again. During this period, it is difficult for us to stay at home. Especially when you are young ”.
The total and complete reopening of the Dubai Mall should not take place for several weeks. Because in the United Arab Emirates, the number of new Covid-19 positive cases is constantly increasing every day. So to limit the risk of contamination and also reassure customers, many measures have been taken in the shopping center.
“ The shopping center is rarely used at the moment. So yes, I feel safe here, explains Nicole. And in addition, they check our temperature when we get inside. Everyone wears the mask. So yes, I feel reassured ”.
In addition, the entry of children from 3 to 12 years old as well as that of people over the age of 60 is still prohibited.
