This initiative was started by a large membership-based supermarket, Costco, which has 26 stores nationwide.
Starting this week, all stores will be open twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, approximately 2 hours before opening for people aged 65 and over and persons with disabilities.
Among them, the store in Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki City will limit the number of visitors to the store for nearly two hours from 8 am, and on the 24th, the elderly will confirm the age at the entrance, and then slowly prepare food. I was buying goods and daily necessities.
A 72-year-old woman who visited for shopping said, "I've been looking forward to this day because the stores were often crowded these days. It was nice to be able to shop slowly."
Atsuko Ochiai of “Costco Wholesale Japan” said, “We have a sufficient inventory of products, so ordinary customers should understand.”
