Tension and war of words between Tehran and Washington

Despite the pandemic, the war of words continues between the United States and Iran. Last week, military vessels from the two countries collided in the waters of the Persian Gulf. The tension is very strong between the two countries and in recent hours bellicose statements have been exchanged.

Shoot down and destroy any Iranian boat that harasses  " American ships at sea is the order that Donald Trump says he gave to the navy this week. Threat against threat, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said on Thursday that Tehran’s naval units were ready to target American ships if the latter endangered the Iranian fleet.

The tense situation in the Persian Gulf is not the only factor fueling the tension between Washington and Tehran. The putting into orbit of an Iranian satellite this week has revived American accusations about the ballistic program of the Islamic Republic.

At the same time, Iran criticizes the American sanctions, assuring that they complicate Tehran's fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

Conversely, in recent weeks, Washington has blamed the Iranian authorities for their attitude towards the spread of the virus. The global health crisis in no way calms the American-Iranian showdown, which is even driving up oil prices, which the pandemic has plunged…
