The Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, said that the commercial centers that respond to the requirements, which were issued yesterday, regarding the reopening of the centers, can open their doors immediately without restrictions, after obtaining the approval of the department.


Al-Balooshi said, in a briefing today, that there is communication with the companies that own commercial centers to coordinate with them and provide assistance to them if there is any need for assistance in adhering to these requirements, noting that the conditions were sent to the private sector, and was discussed in it.


He pointed out that the conditions required to re-open are not difficult at all, but they are necessary and necessary in these exceptional circumstances, pointing out that the aim of the circular yesterday is not primarily commercial, but it aims to protect society and shoppers from any risks.


He said that there are 29 commercial centers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and that pressure is not expected on the commercial centers after their opening, according to the experiences of the countries that have opened the commercial centers with them, pointing out that there is a growing awareness among the population of the importance of non-crowding and commitment to social divergence.


He pointed out that the conditions for reopening commercial centers also apply to the fish and vegetable markets in the emirate, noting that cafes can also open their doors with a commitment to use 30% of the maximum capacity of them.


Al-Balooshi asserted that the basic principle is to sit at home, not to go out except for necessity, not to go to malls except for the necessary shopping, and to buy goods that are urgently needed.


He pointed out that the decisions issued by the department, which number 21, have closed no more than four or five activities, such as cinemas, sports clubs and entertainment centers, and placed restrictions on a similar number of activities, given the presence of frictions in them, while the rest of the activities remain open and ongoing. .


He pointed out that the decision to close or restrict any activity aimed at protecting society, and limiting the new Corona virus (Covid-19).


The Undersecretary stressed the importance of adhering to the instructions and directions contained in the circular, which included all parties involved in implementation, such as the departments of commercial centers and shoppers, from the general community, service providers, and shop owners in commercial centers.


He pointed out that the department and other relevant government agencies will conduct inspection and field control visits to the commercial centers that wish to open their doors to the public, to ensure that everyone adheres to these strict instructions, and that violating any of them will expose their owner to the penalties stipulated in accordance with the law.


The Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi has issued a circular to commercial centers (malls) at the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which includes a guide for precautionary and preventive measures, which must be implemented in the event that these centers desire to reopen their activity, as they include instructions for the departments of commercial centers and shoppers, members of the community Service providers and shop owners to reduce the spread of Corona virus infection (COFED-19), in accordance with the directives of the National Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Authority.
