The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has confirmed the lack of validity of recent rumors on social media about a link between the emerging Corona virus and the fifth generation mobile networks.

The authority indicated to "Emirates Today" that the frequency spectrum or radio or electromagnetic waves used in the telecommunications sector in general and the fifth generation in particular do not generate any viruses or bacteria.

She added that many health experts around the world stressed during the recent period, especially during the World Conference for the Fifth Generation of Mobile organized by the authority in Dubai last December, on the axiom that the spectrum does not generate any viruses or bacteria of any kind.

The commission considered that such rumors claiming a relationship between the fifth generation and "Corona" are not new, as social networking sites abound with all forms of information, whether documented or not.

And advised «Regulating Communications» to extract information from its sources and verify it in the event received through the means of correspondence used, and also demanded that those rumors be subjected to scientific reasoning through systematic research. It is noteworthy that the World Health Organization published on its account via the Facebook site the day before yesterday, that "corona" cannot be transmitted through radio waves or mobile networks, in light of the widespread spread of the rumor that the fifth generation networks cause the spread of the virus .

The organization pointed out that "Corona" has spread to countries that have not yet reached the fifth generation towers. Corona was commonly associated with 5G horoscopes, and finally spread strongly on social media.

European countries have witnessed several incidents of smashing mobile towers as a result of these rumors linking the "Corona" outbreak and the fifth generation networks.

Corona's popularity with the fifth generation has spread to communication sites recently.
