The Board of Directors of the Asian Investment Bank approved an emergency loan project to China to support China in strengthening sustainable public health infrastructure and purchasing emergency medical equipment and materials.

This is the first emergency assistance loan of the Asian Investment Bank. According to the Asian Investment Bank, cities such as Beijing and Chongqing have a large number of floating populations, and the prevention and control work faces severe challenges and huge capital needs. The loan project will help improve the sustainable construction of public health infrastructure and systems in these two cities, as well as the ability to respond to outbreaks.

The implementation of the project includes supporting the upgrade of the disease control center, enhancing the emergency epidemic prevention and treatment capacity of medical institutions, and purchasing emergency equipment and materials for frontline medical staff for epidemic prevention and control.
