According to the parliament, one of the main topics of the meeting was support and development of the agro-industrial complex and ensuring food security.

“Today it is extremely important for us to discuss the questions that the residents of our country are addressing to us, people who have encountered problems in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection,” said Volodin.

He noted that the lower house of parliament is ready to initiate, including legislative decisions in this area.

“Given that we communicate with citizens, work on issues within committees, meet and work with experts and the professional community, it would be right for us to make suggestions that could address issues related to the spread of viral infection and to reduce the growth of the economy, with world-class challenges, ”the speaker emphasized.

Volodin added that coordinated work was built with the government. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in turn, said that the new composition of the government had working relations with all factions of the State Duma.

During the meeting, agribusiness and food issues were raised.

So, the chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Vladimir Kashin, recalled the importance of preventing “excesses in the field” with restrictions on the supply of planting materials and fertilizers, and also called for the most expeditious consideration of bills already worked out with the Ministry of Agriculture, including “on soil fertility and the handling of pesticides and agrochemicals on improving the circulation of agricultural land through the introduction of unclaimed shares in the market and others. ”

On April 6, the government approved "measures to ensure the sustainable development of the economy" in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection.

In particular, support measures have been approved for organizations and individual entrepreneurs from areas that have suffered most from the virus.

Also, Mikhail Mishustin approved the list of the most affected sectors of the Russian economy from COVID-19.
