The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi said that, based on the directives of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, a decision was issued to tighten violations of price hikes and monopolies in Abu Dhabi.

The Department of the Emirates indicated today that a 250,000 dirham was set as a fine to raise the prices of food and medical supplies, to refrain from selling or monopolizing these materials, and two million dirhams to repeat the violation.

The department indicated that this decision aims to control the markets and protect the rights of consumers.

She pointed out that the decision gave the department the authority to temporarily close the facility, suspend the license for a period of no less than a month and no more than three months, close the facility altogether, and cancel the license in accordance with the established procedures and seize the goods

The place of the violation and disposing of it according to the violation legislation, and referring the violator to the competent prosecution in case the violation is a crime punishable by law.
