The Department, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety, carried out a campaign to monitor the prices of consumer goods and ensure the availability of consumer goods in the market, which included 870 commercial establishments in the three areas of the Abu Dhabi Emirate, Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain and Al-Dhafra distributed over 607 restaurants, 22 sales outlets, 20 commercial centers and 152 mobile vehicles And 69 pharmacies.

Al-Balooshi stressed the department’s keenness to protect consumer rights and continue to fight any attempt to raise the prices of goods unjustified in light of the exceptional circumstances that we are currently experiencing, according to the provisions of Federal Law No. 24 of 2006 on consumer protection.

The circular issued by the department stipulates that establishments must announce prices of products and goods throughout the year and avoid raising them during seasons, occasions and emergency circumstances without justification, in addition to the necessity to write prices in the local currency clearly, and announce them prominently at the place where the commodity is offered, and not to impose any additional fees or services The consumer, excluding tax or delivery fare.

According to Circular No. 11 of 2020, the supplier of goods is prohibited from distinguishing between consumers during the sale of the commodity, whether in price or quality, and it is also prohibited to include the term goods sold that are not returned or are not replaced, whether in the invoice or contract or at the facility's headquarters.

The department urges everyone to fully comply with all laws, regulations, circulars and previous decisions issued by it or from any other competent authority, with regard to consumer rights, whether issuing invoices or advertisements or the contents of materials and their identification cards.
