Takata Airbags Domestic Recalls to 21.11 Million Units 22:39 on March 27

Due to a series of recalls for Takata's airbags, an auto parts maker, recalls have been filed by this month, and approximately 21.11 million vehicles have been targeted.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, reports of recalls have been made in Japan since 2009, saying that parts of Takata airbags could be damaged and splattered when activated.

By the end of this month, notification of recalls had been completed, covering a total of about 2.11 million vehicles, including 25 domestic automakers.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number of vehicles whose parts have been replaced is about 20.32 million, or 96.5% as of the end of December last year.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism demands that the remaining 740,000 unfinished parts be replaced as soon as possible.

On the other hand, in Takata, a fatal accident in Australia that could be caused by an abnormal rupture of an airbag not subject to the recall has occurred, and approximately 157,000 vehicles have been recalled in Japan.
