The Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector in the Dubai Economy issued a violation against a wholesaler after raising the prices of onions to an exaggerated level.
This came during the inspection campaigns of the sector's teams, in addition to responding to complaints received from consumers.
The Dubai Economic Department said in a statement today that although the merchant claimed to buy the commodity at high prices, the team of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector was keen to verify the selling prices from the main supplier to prove his claims being null and void, which necessitated a violation against him .
