Beside the president, Benny Gantz adopted a serious and solemn tone. The law now gives him 28 days to form a government: " It is a short time but in the current circumstances [...] , even that is too long ", warned the head of state. " I will do everything to establish a national government in a few days, " replied the former chief of staff .

Benny Gantz said he wanted to form a government " patriotic and as wide as possible " , a government " that will protect the interests " of the settlers but also of Arab citizens, residents of big cities as well as those of more isolated localities.

The leader of the Bleu-Blanc alliance insisted on his desire to set up an executive including all components of Israeli society. Or a way to take over the proposal made by Benjamin Netanyahu to form an " emergency " government to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

However, its task looks further complicated. The negotiating teams of Bleu-Blanc and Likoud, the party of Benjamin Netanyahu , are due to start their discussions soon. Contacted by Benny Gantz, the heads of the other formations allied with the outgoing Prime Minister have refused to meet him for the moment. Political divisions persist despite the health crisis .
