The "Union Cooperative" confirmed that no instructions were received from it from the competent authorities to close its branches, noting that what is being circulated through social media pages is just rumors.

The director of the Marketing and Happiness Department at Al-Tawuniya Cooperative, Suhail Al-Bastaki, told «Emirates Today» that the cooperative is currently implementing precautionary measures to tackle the “krona virus”, including comprehensive and complete sterilization of sale facilities and shelves in all outlets throughout the day, as well as implementing more sterilization operations An expansion of the branches at night after the end of work periods, which includes shelves and refrigerators, while protecting goods, especially food, during sterilization.

He added that a number of workers were allocated to sterilize shopping carts before and after each use, in addition to providing liquid hand-free sterilization packages for use by consumers at the entrances to outlets.

Al Bastaki pointed out that the association urges shoppers not to crowd in the outlets and go to the branches that operate at night, as the cooperative provides 24-hour working hours in three branches including Al-Tawar, Umm Suqeim, and Al Wasl.

He stressed that the cooperative has prepared and has full readiness for remote work systems when needed, whether for employees and some administrators in sales outlets, or for extending requests to consumers extensively, pointing out that the cooperative currently provides demand through its electronic platform and delivery of requests to various regions of Dubai.

Al Bastaki stated that agreements have been concluded with various supply companies to continuously support various materials, and to maintain the stock in the cooperative warehouses, which is sufficient for long periods of up to six months for basic food and consumer goods, pointing out that there are offers of discounts on different food commodities.
