This decision was taken by the authorities to control the spread of the coronavirus across the countries, in particular with the approach of the Iranian New Year holidays which start on March 20 and will last two weeks.
Each year, tens of millions of people take the vacation route. This can speed up the spread of the coronavirus. No details have been given yet on the measures that will be taken.
Entry and exit of certain cities or regions already controlled
The entry and exit of certain cities and regions, centers of the virus, are already controlled. Iran is the most affected country after China and Italy.
General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri also announced that all Iranians will be checked by phone or via social networks to identify those suspected of being sick.
These drastic measures were announced after the supreme guide, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered the armed forces to engage in the fight against the new coronavirus. MPs and some provincial officials have said in recent days that the number of people infected is higher than the figures announced.
