Plane tickets to the US for tomorrow, which is the last day that you can fly to the country after Trump has banned travel from Europe, are skyrocketing this Thursday at unusual prices, reaching over 2,000 euros in some cases.

Trump announced yesterday the suspension of all trips from Europe to the North American country for the next 30 days , with the exception of those from the United Kingdom, as a measure to prevent and control the coronavirus outbreak.

The new rule will take effect on Friday at midnight, so all citizens who have to return to or leave the country can only do so tomorrow. That has caused demand to rise and prices to skyrocket.

Sources in the sector confirm that in some cases they are reaching prices of $ 2,300, "which is normal due to the high demand there is, but it is not usual," they explain.

One thousand euros in low cost

On Norwegian, for example, a return from Los Angeles for tomorrow costs 1,000 euros in premium class and the rest of the flights are around 800-900 euros. "Those prices are not normal, even if the flights are from one day to the next," these sources indicate.

As they explain, "the service that they use to make the bid taking into account the demand is skyrocketing. Those that are around 2,000 euros are first class tickets or those that are in some operator that uses these supply and demand algorithms."

Norwegian has announced today that it will cancel more than 4,000 flights until the end of May and will implement temporary job suspensions of up to 50% of the workforce as measures to overcome the crisis caused by the expansion of the coronavirus.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned this Thursday that the suspension of all trips from Europe to the United States could bankrupt more airlines and called for "emergency measures" for companies to overcome the crisis that has caused the coronavirus.
