(Fighting New Crown Pneumonia) Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China: Swine fever in Africa significantly reduces year-on-year

China News Agency, Beijing, March 5 (Reporter Li Yanan) At the press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council on the 5th, Yang Zhenhai, director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, pointed out that the intensity of the African swine fever epidemic has decreased significantly this year. The overall situation of highly pathogenic avian influenza is stable.

He said that in the whole of 2019, there were 63 cases of African swine fever in China, including 60 domestic pigs and 3 wild boars. Twelve African swine fever epidemics have occurred at this time last year, and one wild swine African swine fever epidemic has occurred in Shennongjia, Hubei this year.

This year, 4 wild bird and 2 poultry highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks were reported nationwide, and the incidence intensity was basically consistent with the average level in recent years. After expert consultation and comprehensive research and judgment, the situation of the highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic this year is generally stable.

Yang Zhenhai said that the notified status of the African swine fever and bird flu epidemics reminds us once again that there are many types and widespread distribution of major animal diseases, especially the African swine fever virus has a large pollution area, and China ’s breeding density is relatively high. For a long time, wildlife activities are not easy to control, the risk of epidemics is always present, and prevention and control cannot be relaxed at any time.

On the basis of holding a video conference, issuing notices and on-site supervision, and comprehensively deploying national prevention and control work, he said that the next step will focus on three aspects, namely: prevent African swine fever; do a good job in spring immunization and prevent and control Animal diseases such as highly pathogenic avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease; guide localities to conscientiously implement the just-released 2020 version of the African Swine Fever and highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic response implementation plan.
