Photocatalytic disinfectant Start testing to see if it is effective against new viruses Toshiba February 28 20:19

Toshiba Corporation has announced that it has begun testing to see if a disinfectant that has been shown to remove bird flu and other viruses is also effective against the new coronavirus.

This disinfectant uses a chemical called "photocatalyst" that causes a chemical reaction when exposed to light and decomposes and removes harmful substances, and is sold as a spray.

According to Toshiba, this disinfectant has been confirmed to be effective in removing viruses such as avian influenza, enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, and O-157 in demonstration tests conducted by external research institutions. We commissioned a study to determine if this would be effective to a national research institution.

If successful, the company wants to help prevent infection, mainly by spraying it on building walls and floors.
