(Fighting new crown pneumonia) new 5G phones get together

China News Agency, Beijing, February 26 (Reporter Liu Yuying) Although mobile phone sales fell into freezing point during the Spring Festival due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, mobile phone manufacturers have recently rushed to release new 5G mobile phones, optimistic about the upcoming 5G development year.

From January to February, the epidemic impacted consumption and mobile phone sales were not spared. Data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology show that in January, China's mobile phone market shipped 20.81 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.9%.

Research firm Counterpoint predicts that China ’s smartphone shipments will decline by about 30% in the first quarter of this year.

Against the trend, 5G mobile phones ushered in a wave of release. Huawei released a new generation of folding screen 5G smartphone Huawei MateXS on the 24th. The Chinese market sells for as much as 16999 yuan and will be available on March 5. Subsequently, Huawei's Honor also released two new 5G phones.

Qualcomm's new 5G platform Snapdragon 865 will also drive a wave of releases. On the 25th, vivo's emerging brand iQOO released iQOO3 based on the platform, which has already landed on Tmall, JD.com and Suning. Recently, dozens of 5G mobile phones using this platform have been designed or released.

China's mobile phone shipments declined for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019. The beginning of 2020 is unfavorable, and the entire industry chain is in a doldrums, but the prosperity of the whole year is still optimistic.

First, 5G network construction will accelerate. Recently, the central government requested to accelerate 5G construction. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology puts forward requirements for basic operating companies, accelerates the pace of 5G commercial use, and exerts the positive role of 5G in stabilizing investment.

As for the 5G bidding and construction delayed due to the epidemic situation, the three major telecom operators stated that the goal of 5G construction this year remains unchanged. China Unicom plans to complete its full-year target in the third quarter. According to public disclosure, the three major operators will build 550,000 base stations this year, and all prefecture-level cities will cover 5G networks.

Second, the supply of the industrial chain is recovering. Zhang Yang, an analyst at Zhongcheng Think Tank, said that now that the supply chain is incomplete, downstream terminal consumption has fallen into a downturn, which has resulted in limited production in the upstream and downstream, and simultaneous upstream and downstream resumption of work will produce a positive and positive synergy.

At present, China is actively returning to work and production, with particular attention to restoring the entire industrial chain. China Unicom released five measures to stimulate the production of the terminal industry chain. China Unicom plans to sell 110 million omni-channel mobile phones this year, of which 33 million to 60 million 5G mobile phones.

During the epidemic, "cloud office", "cloud life", and "cloud game" have allowed some users to experience the advantages of 5G. Zhang Yang said that China, as the second largest economy in the world, has demonstrated great potential in the fields of digital economy, manufacturing transformation and upgrading, healthcare, 5G construction and artificial intelligence. These will promote the commercialization of 5G, and it is the general trend for 5G mobile phones to replace 4G mobile phones.

Of the mobile phone shipments in January, 5.465 million were 5G mobile phones, with a market share of more than 25%. China Unicom predicts that the total mobile phone market sales in 2020 will be around 330 million units, of which about 100 million to 180 million 5G mobile phones.

Consumption enthusiasm is temporarily suppressed, but will eventually be released. Lei Jun, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, said that smartphone sales may decline sharply in the first quarter of 2020, but mobile phones are still the most commonly used smart devices. Xiaomi plans to launch 10 5G phones this year.

Fengyu Fei, president of the iQOO brand, said that the relationship between supply and demand in the market has changed, but the impact is not great, and online product sales will recover faster. Now I still have to look up and work actively. (Finish)
