The Government of Pedro Sánchez has decided emergency aid to Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Valencia for the effects of the storm Gloria and has left out Murcia, although the president himself witnessed the ravages in all of them from a helicopter. The Minister of the Presidency and Finance of Murcia, Javier Celdrán, says that the regional government chaired by the PP member Fernando López Miras will agree on Thursday to present a formal protest "for a discriminatory and unjustified decision."

"It has cost Sanchez's helicopter flight more than what has budgeted us for arrangements," Celdrán protests. "It is of court of guard, the Government only gives aid to Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Valencian Community as if the cloud had stopped at the limit of Orihuela," he adds.

The resolution of the Ministry directed by Teresa Ribera declares "emergency" for the damages in these three communities and allocates a total of 19.5 million euros. Of these , "4.4 million will go to the Balearic Islands, 5.75 million to Catalonia and 8.1 million to the Valencian Community.

"The special intensity of the storm, with strong winds and high rainfall, caused severe flooding and various damage to the coast in general and, in particular, at various points in the Maritime-Terrestrial Public Domain where it is necessary to intervene without delay» , says the Ministry in a statement.

. Sanchez himself included in his so-called Agenda for the Reunion presented to the president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, an acceleration of aid for the damage of the storm Gloria .

The Murcia adviser emphasizes that the damages by Gloria have been lower in his community to those of the so-called DANA of last September in which, in his opinion, the central government also punishes Murcia by rejecting two loans from the European Investment Bank of 320 million euros to recover the Mar Menor. The Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, maintains that Murcia has exceeded its debt limit and veto that it asks for credits from the EIB at the same time that it affects it to lower taxes at the same time.

The delegate of the Government in Murcia, José Vélez, told Onda Cero that Murcia has been left out of the aid granted by the government of Spain to alleviate the damage caused by the stormy Gloria «because it is about damage to private beaches that have not been transferred and would imply breaking the law and prevailing.

Authorized sources from the Murcia regional government disqualified Vélez's argument: "There are no private beaches in Murcia."

On the other hand, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community - the last two governed by the PSOE - also appear as big winners of the distribution of deliveries on account of the autonomous financing system for 2020 compared to those obtained in 2019. Catalonia will be for the first time the community that will receive more money, surpassing the traditional Andalusian leader, and will receive 19,164.19 million (0.76% more), the Valencian Community will enter 9,564.54 (1.39%); Canary Islands, 4,583.72 million (0.97% more); and Balearic Islands, 2,053 million (3.71% more).

Already in lower percentage of rise, Madrid will receive 14,529.4 million (0.67% more) and Murcia, will obtain 3,157.56 million (0.62%). The rest of the communities see their financing decrease in contrast to 2019. Montero said on January 21 that the improvements respond to "objective parameters" that he did not detail.

Official sources of the Junta de Andalucía, governed by PP and Citizens, assure this newspaper that the minister has not given an explanation of why her community loses funding, despite having registered a population increase, and assure that the Minister of Finance, Juan Bravo, ask for explanations about the distribution criteria for deliveries on account.
