Data issued by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai showed that Western Europe occupies the forefront of most of the geographical regions exporting visitors to the emirate, noting that Dubai welcomed more than 3.34 million European tourists (20%) during the past year.
Britain, Germany, France and Italy occupy leading positions in the list of the top 20 countries exporting tourists to Dubai, while other European markets are recording significant growth rates in the flow of tourism.
The tourism sector in Dubai achieved a remarkable growth of 5.1% in 2019, as the emirate welcomed more than 16.73 million international visitors, compared to the same period in 2018.
The Gulf Cooperation Council countries occupy the second place among the regions most exported to visitors to Dubai, accounting for about 18% of the total number, followed by the South Asia region by 16%, then the countries of North and Southeast Asia by about 12%, and the Middle East by 10%.
The share of Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe in the total number of visitors to Dubai is 9%, and America is 7%, while the African continent holds 6%, compared to 2% for the Australian continent.
